Every year, the Mid-Continent Dental Congress (MCDC) serves as a cornerstone event for the Greater St. Louis Dental Society (GSLDS). With over 80 years of history, this premier dental conference brings together professionals to network, learn, and celebrate advancements in the field of dentistry. But what truly makes MCDC a stand-out conference is the dedication and leadership of the staff team which includes Emily Cline, Event and Office Manager at GSLDS.

Emily's role goes beyond event planning. As the Event and Office Manager, she helps to ensure that the MCDC not only runs smoothly but also reflects the evolving culture and values of GSLDS. Her role involves juggling multiple responsibilities, from working with volunteer committees who help select impactful courses and managing vendors at St. Louis Union Station.
Emily’s dedication was on full display last year when she introduced a puppy play date in partnership with the Animal Protective Association of Missouri—a fun and heartwarming activity that became one of the event’s highlights. “Seeing one of the puppies get adopted at the event was unforgettable,” Emily recalls.

Her ability to merge professionalism with creativity has made her a tremendous asset to MCDC planning and execution.
What Sets the MCDC Apart
The MCDC is a reflection of GSLDS’s rich history and forward-thinking culture. Emily, along with a team of dedicated staff and volunteer committee members, ensures the conference stays relevant by adapting to the needs of the dental community.
For instance, when a volunteer suggested offering a Botox course, the GSLDS staff made it happen. It has since become one of the most popular courses offered, showcasing the society’s commitment to incorporating innovative ideas.
“Listening to feedback from our members is key to our success,” Emily explains. “Our goal is to provide a balance of high-quality education and a memorable experience that keeps attendees coming back.”

What’s on the Horizon for 2025?
The 2025 MCDC is shaping up to be another exceptional event. While planning is still underway, attendees can expect a robust lineup of hands-on workshops, expert-led lectures, and exciting surprises.
One thing attendees are eagerly anticipating? The potential return of the puppy play date! Emily and the rest of the team are also exploring new ideas to ensure this year’s event continues to set the standard for dental conferences nationwide.
