Since it’s National Video Game Day, we thought it would be fun to compare some incredible nonprofits to some of the world’s most popular video game characters. Each nonprofit has its own mission, culture, and way of leveling up the community—and just like video game heroes, they inspire, protect, and push forward in creative ways. Let’s hit “start” and see who matches up with who!

Patriot Day isn’t just about remembering, it’s also about serving. Across the country, nonprofits and mission-driven organizations are creating ways to honor the lives lost on 9/11 while giving back to families, survivors, and first responders. Many of these organizations rely on volunteers to carry out their work, and some are actively hiring.

National Food Bank Day, observed on the first Friday in September, reminds us that hunger is closer than we often realize. Food banks and their partners work tirelessly to ensure no one goes to bed hungry. In honor of this important day, we’re spotlighting eight mission-driven organizations that are hiring or actively partnering in food relief efforts.
